The National Program for Medium-and Long-Term Educational Reform and Development was issued in 2010,which determined the strategic theme as "adhering to the people-oriented principle and widely implementing quality-oriented education".With the rapid development of science and technology,learnig has become the urgent need of individuals,organizations and even the whole society.The documentary method,questionnaire method and statistical analysis method are adopted to select 350 students in a University.Based on the Study Process Questionnaire compiled by J.B.Biggs,the scale of college students' approach to learning is designed in the research.And the Chinese Version of California Critical Thinking Skills Test(CCTST)(Peng Meici,2004)is adopted as research tools to measure their state of critical thinking skills.By sorting and screening questionnaires,there are totally 297 valid questionnaires.This study aims at exploring the relationship among study process,critical thinking skills and English achievement and the mediating role of critical thinking skills between study process and English achievement.Social science statistical software SPSS 21.0 is used to measure the reliability of the questionnaire and analysis the quantitative data.And the steps are as follows:1)Descriptive statistical analysis is used to explore the results of study process,critical thinking skills and English achievement,and independent samples T test is adopted to testify the differences in gender and grade;2)Pearson correlation analysis is applied to the correlation between study process amd critical thinking skills,study process and English achievement,critical thinking skills and English achievement;3)Multiple regression analysis is used to further analyze the effection among study process,critical thinking skills and English achievement,then the correlation model of them is built;4)Mediation tests is adopted to testify how the study process affect English achievement,and whether the study process directly or indirectly influences English achievement through critical thinking skills.The results show:study process is significantly correlated with critical thinking skills.Study process is significantly correlated with English achievement.It is also found that critical thinking skills is significantly correlated with English achievement,and it can predict English achievement.At the same time,critical thinking skills has an important mediating effect on study process and English achievement.Moreover,critical thinking skills have a complete mediating effect between surface-learning approach and English achievement.And critical thinking skills have a partial mediating effect between deep-learning approach and English achievement,achieving-learning approach and English achievement.
