Modern foreign language education has paid more and more attention to the subjective role of learners.The research topics on autonomous learning at home and abroad have been deepened gradually,and the scope of research has also been expanded day by day.At present,the research on learning strategies and autonomous learning in China is mainly focused on college students and teachers,but there is still a lack of relevant research on foreign language learners in senior high school.Autonomous learning activities are affected by many factors,and learning strategy is one of the important factors.In view of the limited time and heavy school tasks of high school students,the use of learning strategies is particularly important for improving autonomous learning ability.In this study,more than 200 high school students in Anhui Province were investigated by the questionnaire and the data were analyzed.This study takes a high school student in Anhui Province as the research object,investigating more than 200 students by means of the questionnaire and analyzing the result.This study mainly discusses the following three issues: What is the current situation of autonomous learning ability and learning strategies of senior high school students? Is there a correlation between each kind of English learning strategy and autonomous learning ability of senior high school students? What is the prediction power of autonomous learning ability in each kind of learning strategy? According to the research result,some suggestions are put forward,in hope that teachers take targeted measures to train students to use learning strategies,and students are independent and autonomous learners eventually.The result shows as follows:(1)According to the results of descriptive statistical analysis,the autonomous learning ability of senior high school students is on the middle level,but the level of autonomy in the learning process is on the low side.(2)The results of Pearson correlation analysis show that all dimensions of learning strategies are positively correlated with autonomous learning ability.(3)The linear regression equation analysis shows that only metacognitive strategies and cognitive strategies can predict autonomous learning ability,and the predictive power of metacognitive strategies is higher than that of cognitive strategies.It can be seen that although the average level of autonomous learning ability of senior high school students is relatively high at present,learners are still weak in planning and managing of learning activities,while metacognitive strategies have strong predictive power in autonomous learning ability.Therefore,the training of metacognitive strategies plays an important role in improving the autonomous learning ability of senior high school students at present.In terms of autonomous learning ability development,senior high school students face more difficulties than college students.The lack of hardware facilities,the heavy schoolwork,and the single way of acquiring knowledge have restricted the improvement of learners' autonomous learning ability.Both English teachers and students should recognize the relationship between learning strategies and autonomous learning ability,and carry out the corresponding learning strategy training in the senior high school class.
