The rise of America in 19th century made itself starve for market overseas for its booming economy.China,invaded by western powers,was considered as the best choice.The growth of America business group in China promoted the launch of Asia Society and the journal named after it was published.In 1917,the journal was renamed Asia.Accordingly,it aimed to promote mutual understanding and communication between American and Asian,which was transferred from the concept of offering platform to share business information.As a popular journal of regional research,Asia were rich in theme,content and contributor.Owing to editors' and writers' prospective vision and originality,Asia stood out from American regional research journals.It played an irreplaceable role to promoting cultural communication between China and America.It was not only a product of American Chinese Studies,but boosted the development of American Chinese Studies in early 20th Century.
