As everyone knows,vocabulary is the important content of the language knowledge,the foundation of the language skill and the English teaching.No one can deny the important role that vocabulary plays in English teaching.However,in the present stage of the junior high school English vocabulary teaching,most English teachers still mainly adopt the single traditional infusion method which can't stimulate students' interest in learning.Based on this problem,the author proposes to apply the schema theory to English vocabulary teaching.Through literature reading and arrangement,I divide the schema into synonyms schema,prefix and suffix schema and high-frequently words schema according to the schema classification,and try applying them to English teaching.The author believes that the application of schema theory to English teaching is a new and effective teaching method,and it will inject fresh strength into vocabulary teaching.Based on the analysis of domestic and foreign related thesis and books on schema theory and junior school vocabulary teaching,the author proposes the following four questions: 1.How is the English vocabulary learning of junior high school students? 2.How to use the schema theory effectively in junior high school English teaching? 3.Is the application of schema theory to junior high school English teaching helpful for enhancing learning interest? 4.Is the application of schema theory to junior high school English teaching helpful for improving students' score and whether the effect is different for students of different levels?First of all,the author conducted a survey on a class with the basic information of vocabulary learning in Harbin hulan district No.5 middle school,and used SPSS data analysis software to test the reliability and validity of the questionnaire.Then in order to see if the application of schema theory to vocabulary English teaching working,the author conducted the empirical study for three months.According to the comparative analysis of the vocabulary scores,the experimental class have obvious progress which proves the validity of application of schema theory to junior high school vocabulary teaching.On this basis,the author conduct the depth interview to the nine students in different levels and believes that the application of schema theory to junior high school vocabulary teaching can enhance the students' interests and confidence,help them master vocabulary learning methods,improve the efficiency of word memory,enlarge the vocabulary and improve the English vocabulary scores.
