As a popular art critic, painter and novelist in China in recent years.John Berger's artistic criticism has attracted a lot of attention in China, but his novel creation can not be ignored either in quantity or quality. At present, domestic readers' cognition of Berger is limited by his artistic criticism, even if there is a small amount of research on his novel creation, but pay little attention to his works in his later years.John Berger claimed to be a "storyteller." Under the attack of the torrent of capitalism in modern society, people's pace of life is getting faster and faster, and their ability to feel and share experiences in life is gradually declining.People's imagination of life and the future is drying up,so people can't express what happened to them.In this context.Berger wants to be a story passeur, resisting the torrent of capitalism in a storytelling way.The two late works,Here is Where We meet and A to X,take on a different form from his previous works. In these two works,Berger banished himself to memory.in the form of autobiographies and letters.Berger is constantly tracing back to self-memory,and showing the negation and confrontation of the social "spirit of the times",reflecting his life state in the face of death. This paper discusses these two novels in the late period of Here is Where We meet and A to X around the identity of "storyteller".The paper is divided into three parts. The first chapter starts with the concept of "late style" of Said.Compared with his previous works,Berger's two works show the characteristics of the juxtaposition of despair and hope, and show the attitude of alienation and intransigence. The second chapter cuts into the key word "story" and analyzes the form of Berger's story. In Here is Where We Meet and From A to X,Berger uses the way of intersection of time and space to memorize and write in pieces in an attempt to lead to the eternal moment in this way.in order to resist this flattened wave in the globalization movement. The third chapter centers on the concept of"Ferry",Berger ferries the history in different ways in these two works, and ferries the hope for the present people,in order to complete his personal political resistance. In his two works,Here is Where We Meet and A to X,Berger traces his memory by means of geo-chronological writing and correspondence respectively, which carries Berger's reflection on himself and society in his infancy. It also has some enlightenment to the modern people who are in the torrent of capitalism.
