Notes On The Creation Of "The Marks Of Era" Series

In the recent 30 years,Chinese contemporary art has changed from just drawing lessons of western art to expounding Chinese own symbols.The advancement of globalization especially information globalization provide new insight to the spring up and development of Chinese contemporary art,resulting in the collision and integration of artistic thoughts around the world.The creative concepts and aesthetics of Chinese contemporary artists have also changed a lot from learning others to learning themselves.It combines western artistic forms and languages with traditional cultural symbols and traditional philosophy,and carries out artistic innovation and reflection on this basis.Artistic creation also constantly reflects its timeliness and particularity.From learning western artistic concepts to skillfully integrating western painting with Chinese traditional culture,from single painting materials in easel painting to the application of comprehensive materials,the application of comprehensive materials has boldly innovated traditional painting tools,greatly enriched the painting language and broken the limitations of traditional materials.In my graduation creation,"The marks of era" series creation is guided by this idea,which integrates Chinese and western culture and art and breaks the painting theme of traditional oil painting.It presents the Chinese culture carried by the western art form through the painting tools of oil painting and the western "modernism"painting style.It shows the cultural treasures of ancient Chinese hitching post stone carving through the painting technique of image expression.The application of comprehensive materials in painting is very important and beneficial.On the one hand,the painting content inherits the excellent part of Chinese traditional culture;On the other hand,it also retains the unique material medium of oil painting,thus forming a meaningful painting.The application of comprehensive materials has injected new vitality into painting.The article are composed of three main parts to explain the author's creation process of "marks" series.The first part begins with the comprehensive materials,describing the inspiration of the author's creative concept in the context of contemporary art,as well as the work "The marks of era" series creation process.In the second part,with the background of contemporary art and my own creative practice as narrative theme,this thesis analyzes the creation process of the series of works "marks" from the aspects of material collection,composition selection,formal language,material application,and color determination etc.Finally,considering my superficial feelings in this creation process as an entry point,I summarized the enlightenment in the creation process and insight for the future creation.
