New York State is one of the major centers of Korean immigration,which is mainly engaged in commercial activities,different from other regions of Korean immigrants.This article takes the example of Korean immigrants in New York State in the mid-20 th century.It explores the background of the North Korean immigration tide,the evolution of the US immigration policy toward North Korea,and the adaptation of North Korean immigrant culture.The article consists of an introduction,a text,and a conclusion.The body is divided into three parts.The first part is about the background analysis of the Korean immigration tide in the United States.It mainly combs the three Korean immigration tides in the United States and objectively analyses the immigration background from two aspects: the social Pulling Factors of the United States and the driving factors of the Korean PeninsulaThe second part is about the evolution of American immigration policy toward Korea.Focusing on a series of bills against Asian immigrants promulgated by the United States Congress,including the Exclusion Act of 1882,the Immigration Act of1924,the Immigration and Nationality Act for Other Purposes of 1952 and Amending the Immigration and Nationality Act for Other Purposes of 1965.The above Immigration Act reflects the evolution of its policy towards Korean immigrants.The third part is about the living survey and cultural adaptation of Korean immigrants in New York State.Taking Korean immigrants in New York State as an example,this paper focuses on the economic activities,religious activities and family life of American Korean immigrants.Korean immigrants from New York state kept adapting to American society.They started their own small businesses,actively organized and participated in church activities,and tried to improve their social status.In addition,through the study of language communication,dietary habits,exposure to mass media,religious beliefs and participation in ethnic associations of Korean immigrants in New York State,from point and surface to analyze the cultural adaptation of Korean immigrants in the United States.In the middle of the 20 th century,Korean immigrants continuously participated in American social activities and improved their status.Their traditional national culture and native American culture were constantly integrated and influenced eachother,which not only reflected their certain cultural adaptability but also retained their unique national characteristics.
