C-E Translation Report Of Huzhou Municipal Government Work Report In 2017:Translation Strategies On Implicit Information In Government Texts

The material selected for this project is the Huzhou municipal government work report in 2017 which contains a large number of words or expressions with implicit information,making a difficulty in the process of translation.The author mainly summarized the difficulty into two kinds:1.the translation of words with implicit cultural information;2.the translation of words with implicit ideational meaningWith the guide of Functional Equivalence Theory which said translation is to reproduce the information of source language from its semantics to style in the most appropriate,natural,and equivalent language,the author proposed two translation strategies for the difficulties in the process of translation.1.For the translation of the words with implicit cultural information,which contain specific culture and are known to people with the same cultural background,the author applied the translation strategy of’ cultural information explicitation,including literal translation plus explanation and paraphrase;2.For the translation of the words with implicit ideational meaning,which refer to general words or abstract words that need to be put into the specific context of the source text to define their meanings,the strategy of ideational meaning explicitation was applied,including free translation and explanatory translation.From the practice of the project,the author has improved the ability of C-F translation of government texts,attempting to give some advice on the exchanges between different cultures through the C-E translation of such texts.
