Attractiveness Evaluation Bias Of Self-face Of Different Personality Traits Under The Self-concept Threat

As a special visual stimulus,faces can reflect all kinds of social information attached to the owner of faces.Accurate and rapid self-recognition and other people's faces are of great significance for people's social interaction and communication.In daily life,we usually judge whether a face is "beautiful" or not.The "beauty" here is actually the "face attraction" defined in psychology,which is a positive experience caused by the target face and can promote people to have different degrees of intention to approach(Rhodes,2006).At present,researches on face attractiveness are mostly based on the evaluation of "others".From the perspectives of "face owner" and "observer",the paper discusses the features of facial structure,physiological elements and the effect of observer characteristics on face attractiveness.However,the research on the evaluation mechanism and influencing factors of self-attractiveness is neglected.Existing studies show that attractive to face self evaluation mechanism is different from the others face attractive assessment mechanism,individual when dealing with information related to the self,the behavioral responses and deal with the behavior reaction of irrelevant information is different,this is due to the self contained personal experience,personality characteristics and other relevant information(Watson et al.,2007),Springer,etc.(2010)in the experiments,participants were asked to use descriptive statements to evaluate themselves face images,the results found that individuals tend to be more positive attribute of the vocabulary associated with their own face,CAI jiayye(2018)'s study found that individuals show a positive evaluation bias toward self-faces,and this bias is not affected by the evaluation method,while romantic relationships will enhance this positive evaluation bias,which is consistent with previous research conclusions.The causes of the deviation,it is because of the individual self face identification,active part of the self-concept is activated,promote the reaction to the behavior of the self faces,that is to say,positive self concept ismore efficient on self face behavioral responses,the basis of this kind of efficiency is not only reflected in its own face recognition speed,also reflected in the relevant information including the self positive bias on their faces,and the positive correlation with self concept if is broken,the recognition of their faces advantage also will be cut to varying degrees.Another research conclusion proposed that the representation of an individual's own face is often more positive than the real state of his or her own face in reality,and this preference is related to the individual's sense of satisfaction and self-esteem(Epley & Whitchurch,2008).To sum up,it can be seen that individuals generally have a positive bias in the evaluation of self-attractiveness,which is related to the individual's positive self-concept and is influenced by the individual's own characteristics,such as romantic relationship,personality traits and other factors.Based on this,this study intends to comprehensive use Ma and start the paradigm in the study of Han(Ma&Han,2010),in combination with paired comparison method and subjective evaluation method,two methods of experiment,through the experiment of two parts,the study of self face attractive evaluation characteristics and different personality traits(cognitive style and inside and outside to)individual in self concept threatened their faces attraction evaluation under the condition of bias.Experiments using 2(start type: threatening vs.non threatening)x 2(cognitive style:field independence vs.dependence)x 2(gender: male vs.female)x 2(selection object: self vs.others)design of experiment,to select the probability(including probability and picked his probability)and face attractiveness(including evaluation of him I score and score)as the dependent variable,discusses self-concept threat condition,different cognitive styles of individuals face attractive self evaluation bias;Experiment 2:2(start type: threatening vs.non threatening)x 2(internal and external : internal vs.external)x 2(gender: male vs.female)x 2(selection object: self vs.others)design of experiment,to select the probability(including probability and picked his probability)and face attractiveness(including evaluation of him I score and score)as the dependent variable,discusses self-concept threat condition,different internal and external to the type of face attractiveness bias in the evaluation of the individual self.The results above,this study concluded that(1)an individual'sevaluation to their faces attraction to show a positive evaluation,and the deviation is stable,not affected by the evaluation method of(2)attractive positive comments towards self faces both inside and outside the different cognitive styles and the differences in the types of groups,independent model individuals compared with field dependent type of individual,have a higher self face attractiveness ratings of positive bias,and export-oriented individual self face attractiveness ratings positive bias than introverted individual;(3)self-concept threat will affect the evaluation bias of individual self-face attractiveness.After being threatened by self-concept,the difference between the probability of selecting me and the probability of selecting others,and between the score of evaluating me and the score of evaluating others is smaller than the difference under the non-threat priming bar.The effect of bias is different among individuals with different personality traits,and it reflects the gender difference.
