A Comparative Study Of Chinese Pentatonic Modes And Tone Works

Through the comparative study of Fan Zuyin's Five-tone Mode and Tone Writing Course in China and Yang Tianxi's Four Harmonies for Han Nationality's Folk Songs in the process of harmonization nationalization,this paper summarizes other people's theoretical achievements,and explores the rules of five-tone modes and traditional harmony technique,as well as the means of expanding the five-tone modes and harmony technique.Thus,it can be seen that in the past 100 years,the way to achieve stylization in national harmony techniques and the process of standardization of pentatonic modes and sound systems have been realized.The author will combine the characteristics of the two books,that is,the combination of "configuration harmony" and "writing course",return to the five-tone folk songs themselves,and analyze the combination of basic harmony theory knowledge and expanding harmony techniques.This paper first gives a brief overview of the two books,sums up the characteristics of each five-tone mode and elaborates it in combination with the national music in China's music system;then compares the five-tone modes with chord markers and chord materials;and then summarizes the rules of the five-tone modes and chord configuration and the thinking of tonal expansion,from the chord configuration for tunes,the relatively functional harmony.Finally,it concludes that the complementarity of the two works confirms the development process of national harmony after "establishment" and "breakthrough";and the author applies the theoretical knowledge summarized to practice,one is to analyze the pentatonic works;the other is to make chord arrangement and adaptation creation of folk songs.It may has a reference function for those engaged in music creation,teaching and research,as well as students who are learning the theory of pentatonic modes and the composing of Chinese music style,and give full play to the application value of the two works.
