The year 2017 marks the implementation of the new Senior High School Entrance Examination in Fujian Province.Based on the evaluation criteria and content standards,this study analyzed the details of this English test to explain the trend to testing.Furthermore,the data on the results of this test were sorted out to expose the problems from the examinees of Nanping in this exam.The main findings of this study include two sections.On one hand,most studnts are weak in inference and judgement in reading comprehension,and they got a low scoring average in subjective items,which reflects that their language qualifications need improving.What's more,most of them have deficient sense of identity for their native culture,conditions and customs.On the other hand,most teachers fail to focus on students',thinking skills.Based on these findings,this study put forward corresponding teaching strategies according to the key competence of English,which contains language qualifications,learning abilities,cultural characters and traits of thinking.Based on these theories,teachers should focus on students'discourse competence,cross-cultural awareness and "teaching for thinking".This study aims to solve the problems from English teaching in junior high school by the contrast of English tests in the high school entrance examinations of Fujian Province.Furthermore,the significance of this study focuses on the effect of reference and practice on English teachers.First of all,teachers would have a understanding of the trend and orientation of the "New High School Entrance Examination",so that teachers will have a clear goal to prepare for the New High School Entrance Examination" of 2018.Moreover,this study put forward referential advice on English teaching for teachers to realize the aims of key competence. |
