A Checking Report Guided By "Chinese First,English Second"

Translation field has existed as early as in the past,but,nowadays,it is called translation project by people.At present,an improved "translation field" contains a project manager,translators,translation editors,translation checkers,and translation proofreaders,and a complete translation procedure consists of translation,translation editing,translation checking and translation proofreading.This translation checking report is one of internship reports of important translation steps.As a major translation checker of the project,the present author wrote the report which is on the basis of the translation project of Specification of 360 Air-condition Commuting Electric Multiple Units."Chinese first,English second" is a translation theory introduced by Liu Miqing,which means that a model of translation theory based on Chinese,should take Chinese,our native language,as the starting point and supreme goal.Therefore,the practical meaning of it is that we shall put Chinese at the first place so as to analyze the heterogeneity of Chinese and to emphasize the analysis of Chinese grammar when making Chinese-English translation or English-Chinese translation.During the process of translation checking of the translation project of Specification of 360 Air-condition Commuting Electric Multiple Units,problems of subject transformation from Chinese to English,passive voice transformation from Chinese to English,sentence structure transformation from Chinese to English and tense and subjunctive transformation have been found.So,based on the theory,those problems have been effectively solved by analyzing Chinese first and paying more attention to the analysis of Chinese grammar.Specification of 360 Air-condition Commuting Electric Multiple Units is a specification which implicates that it pays more attention to its language structure.Therefore,this report focuses on those problems occurring in the translation process from original language to target language.It aims to improve the quality and the readability of translation based on the analysis and summary of the problems found in the translation checking process.
