A Practice Report On The Simulated E-C Consecutive Interpretation Of Joint Press Conference By Obama And Prime Minister Trudeau Of Canada

This report is written on the basis of the author's simulated E-C consecutive interpretation of a joint press conference by the former US President Barack Obama and Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau.The interpretation materials are selected from the joint press conference by the American former President Obama and the visiting Prime Minister Trudeau of Canada on March 10^th,2016 at the White House.The joint press conference involves a variety of areas of both America and Canada,such as politics,economy,culture and society.On the basis of summing up the errors in the process of simulated interpretation,the author mainly analyzes the major problems and their causes in the process of consecutive interpreting simulation thus putting forward some coping strategies.In the report,the author first describes the interpreting task,which focuses on the task background and mission requirements.And then the author summarizes the whole process of interpreting simulation,including the preparation before interpreting simulation,translation process and self-evaluation after analyzing the video of simulated interpretation.Later the author focuses on analyzing the main problems in the process of simulated interpretation,like information loss and fuzzy interpretation.After elaborating on reasons for those problems,the author presents several coping strategies.The author sincerely hopes that this report can provide references for interpreting learners and researchers in order to better complete the interpretation practice.
