An Experimental Study On Mind Mapping In English Writing Teaching In Senior High School

Abstract/Summary:
This paper aims to explore the effect of Mind Mapping on senior high school students’ writing ability by applying it to senior high school English writing teaching.Specifically,this paper solves this question by solving three detailed research questions.First,what effect does the Mind Mapping-based English writing teaching mode make on the text organization of English writing for the students in senior high school? Second,what effect does the Mind Mapping-based English writing teaching mode make on the vocabulary application ability of senior high school students’ English writing? Third,what effect does the teaching mode of English writing based on Mind Mapping make on the content of English writing of students?The experiment is carried out in two parallel classes of Senior Two of Runde School in Shijiazhuang City.A total of 81 students participate in the study.The writing teaching mode based on Mind Mapping is adopted in the experimental class,while the control class adopts the writing teaching mode based on process writing teaching method.During the four-month experiment,the students complete eight writing tasks and then the researcher compares the results of the post-test with those of the pre-test.In order to further know the impact of mind maps on the writing ability of students at different levels,at the end of the experiment,a total of six students of different levels are randomly selected and interviewed.Through the results and analysis of the test,it is found that Mind Mapping has different effects on students of different levels.In addition,according to the analysis of the interview,it can be suggested that for the high-score group students,through Mind Mapping,their ability of thinking divergence and innovation is constantly improved.For the middle-score group students,Mind Mapping plays a very important role in improving their ability of ideation and arranging materials.Finally,for the students of low-score group,Mind Mapping can stimulate their interest in learning,enhance their self-confidence,and effectively help them meet the basic requirements of writing with the knowledge they have learned.
