Bilingualism permeates all aspects of people's daily life and has a close relationsh ip with both daily life and teaching. In the process of bilingual speech use,the resear chers paid much attention to the bilinguals 'inhibition control mechanism, that is,the bilinguals can produce the mechanism of two languages as they wish.In our daily lif e,the use of two or more languages can change individual cognitive performance. In general, the more variety of languages bilingual people can use,the more control they have. That is,bilinguals have greater control over inhibition than monolinguals.Previ ous studies have looked at how bilinguals produce two languages and whether another language is activated when it is created. The results have shown that bilinguals 'spee ch production is affected by their ability to inhibit control. The ability of inhibition co ntrol is one of the core components of the execution function. In the process of bilin gual speech generation, the ability of inhibition control has a special status. However, how inhibition control affects the speech production process of bilinguals and what rol e they play in the speech production process has not yet been systematically explored.Taking into account the effects of inhibition of control ability and proficiency in a second language on bilingual speech, the present study also classifies inhibition and proficiency in English as independent variables, divided into single task and dual task conditions,The inhibition control in speech production of Chinese-English bilinguals w as studied in depth and systematically.Experiment 1 was divided into two sub-experiments to investigate the inhibition c ontrol of highly skilled bilinguals in speech production. In Experiment 1A,the researc h paradigm of image naming was adopted to investigate the inhibition control in spee ch production under single task conditions. The results showed that the response of hi ghly skilled bilinguals to Chinese was significantly greater than that to English under single task conditions.Experiment 1B investigated the inhibition control in speech pro duction under dual tasks. The results showed that under dual-task conditions, the reaction of highly skilled Chinese-English bilinguals to Chinese was significantly greater tha n that to English, and that the reaction to Chinese was significantly greater than that t o English. There was no significant difference between high and low suppressors in s peech production. In summary,it can be concluded that under single task or dual task conditions, highly skilled are more likely to switch to Chinese than to English. There was no significant effect of inhibition on the speech of bilingual speakers.Experiment 2 was also divided into two sub-experiments to investigate the inhibiti on control of speech production in low-skilled Chinese-English bilinguals.Experiment2 A showed that the reaction of low-skilled bilinguals to Chinese was significantly less than that to English under single task conditions, and that the reaction of high Suppr essor to Chinese was significantly greater than that of low Suppressor; In Experiment2 B,the inhibition control in speech production of low-skilled Chinese-English bilingual s was investigated. The results showed that the reaction of low-skilled Chinese-English bilinguals to Chinese was significantly greater than that to English under dual-task co nditions, and that the reaction of high-inhibition subjects to English was significantly s maller than that of low-inhibition subjects. It can be seen that under different conditio ns,the inhibition control characteristics of low-skilled Chinese-English bilinguals are di fferent, and the inhibition control characteristics of high-inhibition control ability and l ow-inhibition control ability are also different. The study led to the following conclusions:(1)Chinese and English bilinguals have different inhibition and control mechanis ms at different stages of speech production.(2)Chinese-English bilinguals have different inhibition control mechanisms under single task and dual task conditions.(3)Second language proficiency and inhibition control ability will affect the inhib ition control mechanism in Chinese-English bilingual speech production.
