| This translation report is based on The Road to Little Dribbling written by American writer Bill Bryson.The twelfth,the eighteenth and nineteenth chapters of the book are employed as the source text.After finishing the translation practice,the translator sums up the problems encountered in the course of practice,and finally forms the translation report.The translation report covers four parts,which are task description,process description,case analysis and conclusion.The first two parts mainly introduce the background of the translation task besides the information of the author and text analysis.The third part is case analysis,which mainly sums up and analyzes the problems encountered in the course of translation and the solutions.The translator divides it into two aspects after studying the characteristics of the travel book and its unique style of language.The first aspect is about smoothness which discusses word formation and the adjustment of word order.The second aspect is about literariness which discusses the use of four-character phrases and the translation of figure of speech.According to the specific contexts,the translator uses different translation strategies,which guarantees the accuracy of target text and makes it more readable.This translation practice deals with sixteen thousand words of English text,in which the translator’s ability of translation and solving problems is improved.The translator hopes to summarize the corresponding solutions according to the problems encountered,which will provide some reference for other translators of such texts. |
