Professor Wang Chuming put forward the method of "the Length Approach" which is a foreign language learning method based on writing as the forerunner,uncontrollable variable of length and the promotion of learning.This paper aims to study the feasibility and effectiveness of “the Length Approach” in Junior High school English writing teaching.The following questions are mainly discussed:1.Is "the Length Approach" feasible in the teaching of English writing in junior high school?2.Can "the Length Approach " improve the interest of Junior High school students in English writing?3.Can "the Length Approach " improve the English writing ability and comprehensive English level of Junior high school students?In this paper,101 students from 14 classes(one experimental class and one control class)of Zunyi No.4 Junior High School in Zunyi city,Guizhou province were selected as the subjects of study and the teaching experiment was conducted for 18 weeks.In the first week and the 18 th week,the students in the experimental class were surveyed twice,and the writing tests were conducted in both classes.Finally,the conclusion of this study was obtained by analyzing the English scores of the experimental class and the control class.The study shows that "the Length Approach" can be effective in junior high school English writing teaching,and it not only motivates students' interest of language learning but also improve their writing skills and their English comprehensive skills.
