Art song and opera are two different music genres,which play a crucial role in contemporary vocal music.Since the popularity of French art songs and operas,they have been favored by vocal music learners and vocal music lovers.Although both art songs and aria of opera belong to the category of bel canto singing,there are many differences in singing characteristics.Therefore,this paper will take French art songs and aria of opera as the entry point to compare the singing characteristics.This paper is divided into three chapters.The first chapter describes the development of French art songs and French opera aria and its artistic characteristics.The second chapter selected two very representative works of French composer cournot "serenade" and "I want to live in a dream" as specific cases,respectively from the creation background and music analysis and singing analysis to further elaborate;The third chapter compares the characteristics of French art songs and French opera aria in singing emotion and skills.
