A Preliminary Study On Chipper Stones Of Upper Paleolithic To Neolithic In Lingnan Area | | Posted on:2020-05-29 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | | Country:China | Candidate:L W Cheng | Full Text:PDF | | GTID:2405330596473677 | Subject:Archaeology and Museology | | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | | The Lingnan area is vast in area and has relatively special climatic and environmental conditions.The climate is warm and humid all year round.It has unique advantages in terms of topography,climate,water system and other natural conditions,as well as animal and plant resources.This ecological environment provides good natural condition for early human activities.The ideal living space,the ancient humans living in the Lingnan area make full use of these natural resources,on the basis of which they have developed their own unique stone industry tradition,which is an important part of the evolution of ancient humans.In the Lingnan area from the late Paleolithic to the Neolithic Age,the stone tools have their own characteristics.This paper deals with the discovery and distribution of stone tools,stone tool making techniques,tool combinations and tool types in the late Paleolithic to Neolithic ages in the Lingnan area.The specific introduction and analysis are compared.At the same time,the chipped stone tools of the late Paleolithic and the Neolithic from Lingnan area is compared with those from the surrounding area from the Late Paleolithic to the Neolithic Age.The ancient climate and the economic activities of some important sites are discussed.Also discussed is the reason for the unique stone industry tradition of the stone-making industry in the late Paleolithic period to the Neolithic Age in the Lingnan area.This paper consists of three parts: introduction,text and conclusion.The main contents of the introduction are:(1)the definition of the terminology;(2)the past research review;(3)the research method;(4)the innovation and deficiency of the topic.The text is divided into six chaptersThe first chapter is "The Natural Environment of Lingnan Area".This chapter briefly introduces the geographical conditions,topography,temperature and precipitation of the Lingnan area,animal and plant resources and ecological environment.The second chapter is "An overview of stone tools in the early Paleolithic Age in Lingnan area".This chapter briefly introduces the representatives stone industries of the early Paleolithic in the Lingnan area—the Paleolithic Stones in the Baise Basin and the Paleolithic Materials in the Nanjiang Basin.Through the early processing of stone materials,stone crafts,stone types and shapes in these two regions.The paper discusses the characteristics of stone tools in the early Paleolithic Age in Lingnan area and summarizes the tradition of stone making in Lingnan area.The third chapter is "The Chipped Stone Tools in the Late Paleolithic Age in Lingnan Area".This chapter introduces the important sites in the late Paleolithic period in Lingnan area.From the aspects of stone materials,technology of tool making,tool type and shape,tool assemblage,and stone industry type.The characteristics of stone tools in the late Paleolithic period in Lingnan area are discussed.The fourth chapter is "The Chipped Stone Tools in the Neolithic Age of Lingnan Area".This chapter introduces the important sites of stone tools found in the Neolithic Age in the Lingnan area.From stone materials,technology of tool making,tool types and shapes,tool assemblage.The fifth chapter is "A Comparison between the Late Paleolithic Age and the Neolithic Age in the Lingnan Area." This chapter compares the stone tools from the late Paleolithic period to the Neolithic Age in the Lingnan area from the aspects of raw materials,technology tool making,tool type and shape,tool assemblage and stone industry type.Chapter 6,discussion.This chapter first discusses the commonness and difference of the chipped stone tools made in the late Paleolithic and Neolithic in lingnan area in the fifth chapter and holds that these commonness reflect the inheritance relationship between the stone tools made in the two periods,and these differences are their own changes and development.Comparison was also made between the chipped stone tools in Lingnan and those in the neighbouring area.And the comparative result shows that the chipped stone tools in Lingnan share more cultural commonness with those in Vietnam while less with those in the area in the north of the Five Ridges,which is mainly due to the the result of population migration and cultural transmission;The climate and environment in lingnan are discussed.It was pointed out that the economic activity of hunting,fishing and gatering was determined by the natural environment,and this led to the long existence of the chipped stone tools in Lingnan.The sixth chapter is “Discussion”.This chapter first discusses the commonness and difference of the stone tools made in the late paleolithic and neolithic age in lingnan area in the fifth chapter and holds that these commonness reflect the inheritance relationship between the stone tools made in the two periods,and these differences are their own changes and development.And then to the surrounding areas at the same time,the upper paleolithic to the neolithic age compares the chipped stone tools,think the lingnan area and yunnan-guizhou plateau,ridge,north stone difference is greater than the contemporaneous forge common,interaction between small,lingnan area with north Vietnam era chipped stone tools have high similarity,should is the result of population migration and cultural transmission;Next,the climate and environment of the late paleolithic and neolithic periods in lingnan are discussed.And then analyzes the lingnan area upper paleolithic and neolithic sites of some important profession economic form,that are collected and the fishing and hunting,and exist for a long time away making stone tools combination is used for is engaged in the profession of economic activity,and the profession economic activity is determined by the environment,so that as a result of ecological environment of the upper paleolithic to the neolithic age in lingnan area there is a longer range chipped stone tools.The epilogue summarizes the whole article briefly and makes clear that the reason for the long existence of chipped stone tools in the late Paleolithic and Neolithic age in lingnan region is the ecological and environmental factors. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | Lingnan area, Chipped Stone tools, Ecological environment, Subsistence | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
