The Characterization Of Historical Figures Theme Dance Drama

With the development of the original national dance drama in China,there are more and more excellent historical figures theme dance dramas in recent years.The dance drama Confucius has performed more than 300 performances at China and abroad since its first performance in 2013,and it is still on tour.It has won widely acclaim both inside and outside the industry.According to the concrete structure and content of the dance drama Confucius,this article analyze the methods of characterization.The dance drama Confucius,written by Liu Chun and directed by Kong Dexin.It is a presented by the China National Opera and Dance Drama Company.It is divided into six acts,telling a story about the travelling life of Confucius in late Spring and Autumn Period.Confucius was in a turbulent days.The royalty was fighting for power so that Confucius advice cannot be taken.Confucius had to escape with his students.He saw the homeless people and felt so helplessness.He imaged an ideal world.After awaken to the truth,he keeps trying.Finally,his ideas came down by his students and have a important influence on the world.Through the dance drama Confucius,this paper combs the characterization methods in the historical figures theme dance drama,include the following aspects: extracting the history and identifying the characters;constructing contrast and highlighting the characters;exaggerating the characters' emotions and enriching the characters;determining the dance language and displaying the characters.These methods are mutually reflected.The choreographer not only respects history,but also exerts subjective initiative to create dance drama.This paper adopts the methods of investigation and interdisciplinary research,and looks at the essence through phenomena.It is hoped that through the analysis of the characterization in the dance drama Confucius,we can find more precise ways to create the characters in the dance drama with the theme of historical figures.It is found that the creation of dance dramas with historical figures should not only follow the objective law of historical development,but also have the aesthetic value of contemporary art,in order to be accepted and widely disseminated by the public.This article hopes that it can not only help the director to create,but also help the audience understand the content of dance drama more clearly and thoroughly,so as to promote the development of Chinese original national dance drama.
