The Influence Of Insight Experience On Creative Problem Solution And Memory

Currently,a great deal of creativity researches has focused on the effect of initial insight problem-solving on the next problem and the memonic effect of induced insight paradigm on old memory.However,the brain mechanism of the memonic effect of spontaneous insight and the role of insight experience in new problem-solving are still unclear.Based on the previous studies,present study explored the brain mechanism of the memonic effect of spontaneous insight and the effect of insight experience on the new creative problem-solving and memory.In Experiment 1a,the ERPs and spontaneous paradigm were used to investigate the memonic effect of insight.The results of nineteen participants showed that in recognition stage,the Rts of spontaneous insight was significantly faster than that of non-insight condition.The ERP data showed that the N400 amplitude of the insight and non-insight in the problem-solving stage predicted the recognition performance in the opposite way,which indicated that there might be completely different encoding mechanism mediating the memory formation of the insight and non-insight items.In addition,comparing with non-insight condition,spontaneous insight induces significant Old/New effect(ON)in the recognition stage,and they have significant difference in the LPC stage.This means that insight experience plays an important role in recognitionIn Experiment 1b and 2,the spontaneous and induced insight paradigms were used to explore how the insight experience influence the subsequent creative problem-solving and its memory.In general,the results of twenty-three/forty-one participants showed that the correct problem-solving rate of the insight group was significantly higher than that of the non-insight group,and its Rts was significantly faster than that of the non-insight group.In the recognition test,the recognition rate of the insight condition was significantly higher than that of the non-insight group.Compared with the non-insight group,the insight group's judgment on successful problem solving was more relaxed.
