Study Of Wu Jingzi’s Nanjing Feelings

Born in the prosperous Kangxi and Qianlong Dynasties,Wu Jingzi was given the name of immortality because of the Scholars,but the work of "The Greatest Sovereign of Anhui" goes far beyond this,in addition to the well-known Scholars,there are also four volumes of Wen Mu Shan Fang Corpus,which records most of Wu Jingzi’s poetry before he was forty,The Book of Songs Theory is Wu Jingzi’s dissuasion about The Book of Songs,he also have historiographical discourse Shi Han Ji Yi which is incomplete.However,these works are rarely valued and studied by present researchers.Secondly,Wu Jingzi’s life experience is complex,he had experienced extremely rich and extremely poor life,and traveled many areas.There are also great differences in Wu Jingzi’s creation of Nanjing in different periods and places.Therefore,it is more conducive to present Wu Jingzi’s abundant Nanjing feelings if we widely investigated Wu Jingzi’s works.Wu Jingzi’s Nanjing feelings is presented in three progressive levels,and the image of Nanjing displayed in his works is increasingly diversified.The first level is because of the bloodline of the family,Wu Jingzi naturally felt closer to Nanjing.In addition,Nanjing is an important place of Confucianism,Wu Jingzi,with a sense of bringing glory to family,is full of admiration for Nanjing.Secondly,after moving to Nanjing,Wu Jingzi had more profound and rational understanding of the city.He realized that Nanjing is a city where there is good and evil,beauty and ugliness,history and present-day.Last,after the old periods far away,Wu found the ideal that could not be placed on scholars,he gradually realized that the hard-working,self-sufficient and independent Nanjing citizens have the feelings of the city,which is the same as that spirit of people in Wei and Jin dynasties.The qualities make them exempt from the cheat of imperial examinations and the bullying of power.This kind of feeling not only has an important influence on the selection of themes,the refinement of the plot and the characterization of Wu Jingzi,but also plays a subtle role in the ideological tenet.At present,the academic research on Wu Jingzi’s works is not yet quite sufficient,most of them only focus on the literary texts,especially the meaning of Scholars,which obviously neglected Wu Jingzi’s poetry,essays and feelings of Nanjing.On the basis of inheriting the predecessors’ research on Wu Jingzi,through the synchronic and diachronic comparison,this paper comprehensively examines the regional cultural characteristics of Nanjing in WuJingzi’s poems,essays and novels,in order to explore the literary and geographical value of Wu Jingzi’s Nanjing feelings.
