In Chinese ancient literature,the literary works of Female Beauty is very rich,while the image of Ugly Female is rare.The emergence of the ugly image mostly as a setoff to the Beauties.In the literary of works,the character of ugly female mostly shows the moral selfcultivation,talents and kind-hearted.To direct the ugly or satire on the ugly women are rare.Since the Zhou dynasty,taking morality more serious than beauty has been led the mainstream culture,which remained until the Wei dynasty.With the further research,we can see that the different stage have the different aesthetical standard and judgment.In the Pre-Qin period,the images of ugly female divided into two kinds: one is Biographies of Women in Ancient China,written by Liu Xiang,which on behalf of the ugly female with the kinds or talents;the other is Wang Ji,bamboo slips from Han dynasty,which represented the ugly female with the bad and evil heart.To analyze the two kinds of characters,we can see the developments of the aesthetical option.Taking the ethical and moral level as the standard for judging the female has experienced the Spring and Autumn period,.the main aesthetical option is a contradiction between “enjoy” and “hate”;In the end of The Warring States,the aesthetical option tends to a normalizing change.Until the last years of the Eastern Han dynasty,the double standards eventually formed,which required women not only has the beautiful looks but also has the virtue.
