With the increasing requirements of society for the cultivation of high quality talents,how to encourage students to participate more actively in the classroom activities has become the focus of classroom teaching in various schools.English teacher's classroom talk works as a medium for the teacher to organize classroom teaching and impart knowledge.Its quantity and quality do not only exert an important impact on students' language acquisition,learning psychology and emotion,but also play an important role in promoting their participation in classroom activities.In addition,students at different levels are at different cognitive levels of English,with different learning styles and learning motivations.In the course of teaching,English teacher should treat different students in different ways,so as to promote the active participation of all the students in the classroom activities.Although domestic and foreign scholars have done a lot of research on teacher talk and student participation,there are relatively few studies about the effect of teacher's classroom talk on classroom participation of different levels of students.In this thesis,the author proposes the following three research questions:1.What's the current situation about English teachers' classroom questioning talk,feedback talk and presentation talk in senior high school?2.What's the current situation about classroom behavioral participation,cognitive participation and emotional participation of different levels of high school students in classroom activities?3.Does the senior high school English teachers' classroom talk have a great impact on the classroom participation of different levels of students?If yes,what's the impact of each type of teacher talk on different dimensional participation?In this study,317 students on Grade One and 6 teachers from Chifeng No.2 Middle School were invited to work as research subjects.Questionnaires,interviews,classroom observation were used to obtain data,and SPSS22.0 was used to analyze the collected data.The author tried to explore the influence of senior high school English teachers' talk on the classroom participation of students at different levels.The results of the research are as the following: Firstly,the current situation of high school English teachers' classroom presentation talk,questioning talk and feedback talk is not satisfactory,and there is still much room for improvement.Secondly,the current overall situation of high school students' participation in classroom activities is not satisfactory,either.And students at different levels have significantdifferences in behavioral participation,cognitive participation and emotional participation.As for behavioral participation,high-score students have higher degree of concentration and attentive study than middle-score and low-score students.As for cognitive participation,those high-score students have the highest level of deep cognitive participation and low-score students have the highest level of dependent cognitive participation.However,the three groups of students have no significant difference in their shallow cognitive participation.As for emotional participation,those high-score and middle-score students have more positive emotions,while those low-score students have more negative emotions in their classroom participation.Thirdly,senior high school English teachers' classroom talk has a great impact on classroom participation of different levels of students.Teachers' presentation talk has the most significant impact on middle-score students' behavioral participation,high-score students' cognitive participation,and low-score students' emotional participation.English teachers' questioning talk and feedback talk have the most significant impact on high-score students' behavioral participation and the middle-score and low-score students' emotional participation.Based on the above findings,the author put forward some suggestions for high school English teachers,hoping to help English teachers improve classroom talk,and promote students at different levelsto fully participate in the classroom activities,thus improving classroom teaching efficiency.
