A Study Of Black Role Sets In American Films From The Perspective Of Social Conflict

In recent years,more and more black characters have been nominated and won the Oscar Best Picture,and these black characters have high social status in these films.However,in the real world,the racial contradiction between the black group and the white group in the American society is still sharp,as evidenced by the frequent black shootings.At the same time,these shootings will lead to demonstrations which against ethnic conflicts,and even more likely to cause social unrest.According to the official data of the United States,the unemployment rate of black people is much higher than that of white people.In addition,there are quite a few white supremacists and racists in American society,who often take extreme measures to intensify racial conflicts,which makes the racial situation in American society still severe and the racial situation has not yet reached the ideal state depicted in the films.In this context,I use text research method,case study method and visual research method as tools to analyze the films about black themes from the first academy award for best picture to the 2018 academy award for best picture(including nominees).The study found that with the development of the society,the social status of the black characters in the film has changed a lot,the range of film images is also more and more extensive,gay romance was not appeared before.even the same film images,such as soldiers,servants,etc.,also a new narrative in recently,revealed a more personalized in content,this shows that in the represented by the academy of film images,the American black social status is improving.This paper analyzes and compares the three aspects of "the logical correlationbetween social context and the change of black role image","the change and invariance of black film image under the change of social context",and "the shaping of black role cluster under the context of racial conflict",found that the mainstream American society make the pretence that black social status has been elevated,by using virtual image shaping black image,thus played down the black situation downturn in the real world and racial conflict rising social contradictions.In order to avoid the misunderstanding of subjective assumption,I try to present the status quo of racial conflicts in American society and black film and television images only empirically.
