Under the background of economic globalization and the continuous deepening of China's opening up,market exchanges between China and other countries have shown the unprecedented breadth and depth. The translation market in China has also developed at an astonishing rate with a larger number of translators entering into the market. All of these put higher standards on the cultivation of translation talents and the study of translation theories and strategies. This practice report studies the translation of Healthcare Market Reports on the basis of Nida's functional equivalence theory. The client collected healthcare market reports and respective government regulations in over 30 countries and entrusted the author to translate them into Chinese. It is required that the translation should be concise and the readability should also be ensured. After text analysis and combining with client's requirements, the author uses Eugene Nida's functional equivalence theory as the theoretical guidance. This translation practice report selects about10,000 words in the translation practice as the analysis text.Through case analysis,it tries to explore the guiding role of Nida's functional equivalence theory in translation practice. This report consists of four chapters. The first chapter is the description of the translation task in which the translation background, text type and translation requirements are introduced. The second chapter is the description of the translation process which includes translation preparations that has been made and challenges that the author has met during the translation process. The third chapter is the case study. After theory introduction, the case analysis is made in this chapter to explain the application of functional equivalence theory. The last chapter is the summary which documents the author's thinking and insights on the application of functional equivalence theory. It is hoped that this report can help the author to improve translation capacities and can also provide some inspirations for other translators in their future translation practice.
