Interpersonal Affinity Affects The Behavioral Tendencies Of Core Disgust Stimulus

Interpersonal affinity is not only an essential characteristic of social structure,but also an important mental status.Previous studies have shown that interpersonal relationships have a significant influences on memory,moral judgment,and intercourse.However,few researchers have examined the relationship between interpersonal affinity and approaching-avoiding behavior which triggered by core disgust stimulus empirically.Core disgust stimulus is a harmful stimulus which is very common in the individual’s daily life and always cause evasive behavior.The present research aimed to explore the effect of interpersonal affinity on evasive behavior which triggered by core disgust stimulus and the mechanism under this phenomenon.Our study is consist of two experiments and both of these are within-subject design with single factor in two levels.First,participants engaged in the task of GNAT,then evaluate their behavioral tendencies to the two type of core disgust stimulus,and last to point out how disgusting they felt.The present study examined two kind of Interpersonal affinitywhich are kinship and geo-relations.We aimed to explore the effect of kinship and geo-relations on evasive behavior which triggered by core disgust stimulus and the mechanism under this phenomenon.Experiment 1 showed that the kinship has effected individual’s behavior tendency when exposed to the two kind of core disgust stimulus and disgust is the mediation between the kinship and evasive behavior which caused by the core disgust stimulus,but it not happened when we examined the implicit behavior tendency.Experiment 2 showed that the geo-relations has effected individual’s behavior tendency when exposed to the two kind of core disgust stimulus and disgust is the mediation between the kinship and evasive behavior which caused by the core disgust stimulus,and it also plays the role of partial mediation when we examined the implicit behavior tendency.Our results shows that disgust is the mechanism which Interpersonal affinity relied on to affect participants’ behavior avoiding core disgust stimulus.It is relate to the role that disgust have played to separate our own people from outsider.Compare to our own people,the outsider induced more disgust and then caused more avoidance behavior.
