Research Of Xu Youbin’s Teenage Novels

Xu Youbin is one of Malaysia’s famous Chinese Children’s Literature writers and he is among the first to write teenage novels.His teenage novel "Seven days" has won the first Ma Han Children’s Literature Prize.His novels had gained popularity among children after it was published,and was soon listed as one of the "Asian Weekly’ bestsellers.He is a good storyteller,who is also well known as "The King of Story Teller in Asia"and "The Master of Suspense".His novels’ theme are wide and varied with simple language.The plots of his novels are full of imagination and creativity,touching the hearts of youngsters and adults.The research of Xu Youbin’s novel is extremely uncommon in Malaysia,hence I wish to analyze the reasons behind the success of Xu Youbin through his family background,the history of composing novels,the idea of writing and the style of composing.The motive and purpose of this research is to define the teenage novel concept and to provide a deep study of the object and scope.In the first chapter,introduction about Xu Youbin’s life and the road he took to become a novelist has been included.It also analyzes his ideas and provides a background for discussion.The second chapter is to classify and provide the statistics of Xu Youbin’s teenage novels and to show the diversity of the writer.It is also to summarize his novels based on different genres:family life,school life,cultural,science,environmental issues and others.Discussion about each genre of his novel will be shown in this chapter as well.The third chapter is the summary of Xu Youbin’s novels,and the positive impacts brought by his novels.The fourth chapter focuses on the writer’s artistic skills,the secret outline on how the writer became a "story king" through the "narrative point of view" and "clue design".On the basis of statistics and analysis,the researcher will summarize the specialty of Xu Youbin’s novels:simplicity of language,clarify of subject and positive impacts of his novels.
