The Translation Report Of Intercultural Communication-the Condition Of Becoming A New International Person

Under the circumstance of globalization of economic,the interdependence between each country,nation and race is getting deeper and deeper.Therefore,transcultural communication,a newborn border subject was born as the tendency of the day.I translated parts of the book intercultural communication—the condition of becoming a new international person,which was written by three writers,and made a summary in the report of what I have learned from this process.The book intercultural communication—the condition of becoming a new international per.son consists of 12 chapters.Not only the knowledge of communication between different cultures,but also the digestion of the Japanese culture is involved.In the process of translating,a dif-ficult challenge the writer have met is keeping the balance between keeping the characteristic style of original text and making the translation more close to the language habit of Chinese readers.Solving those problems can not only improve the capacity for translating,but also help to expand the aspect of the knowledge of communication between different cultures.Therefore,the writer chose several chapters from the book as the translation text.One biggest contribution of the The Functionalism Theory of Translation has made to the translation circles is taking the communication between different cultures as an important objective in translation,which inspired the writer to use the The Functionalism Theory to conduct the translation practice.The writer made the conclusion that the representative theory-teleology of The Functionalism Theory is the most appropriate theory to the translation by analyzing the text.And the three laws of the teleology-object,eoherent and loyalty also give the hint to writer to solve the problems met in the translation process.The report consists three chapters below.The first chapter is the summary of teleology and its relevance with the original text.Analyzed the history of teleology,three laws and the core idea of it specifically,and proved the appropriacy of the teleology to the report.The second chapter clarified the purpose of the translation report,and divided the practice process into three parts,which are the preparation part,the first draft part and the perfect part.The third chapter is the most important chapter of this report due to it’s mainly about the examination of representative examples from the original text and the explanation about how to use teleology to conduct translation.Writer divided the difficult point into the obstacle that brought by the difference of expression between Chinese and Japanese,and the difference between cultures.The difference of expression between Chinese and Japanese can be specified into the long sentence of Japanese,the similarity and difference between the word of Chinese and Japanese and the ellipsis of subjective in Japanese.Except the importance of practicing the translation skills,the writer also emphasized that it should be given consideration to both teleology and the coherence of translation text.Writer explicated the effectiveness of teleology in the translation practice and solved the problems in the translation process and delivered the meaning and style in the translation text which the original text had under the conduction of teleoIogy.Therefore,the conduction of teleology is beneficial and necessary to the translation practice.
