Research Of The Formation And Development Of The Pre Qin Dynasty To The Song Dynasty’s Single Syllable Temperature Sensation Words Antonymy

Temperature is one of the natural phenomena that have the closest relationship with human.However,comparing with other semantic fields such as color words,kinship words,etc.,Relatively fewer discussions was made about temperature sensation words from former researchers.It is universally acknowledged by the academic circle that the systematicness of words affects the change and development of words’ meaning.The previous discussions about temperature semantic field was either limited in combing the history meaning of individual words,or remained in the discussion of a fraction of a certain historical period.No general research was done in a comprehensive point of view.Taking antonymy as the research object,lexical system theory and cognitive theory as our research method and temperature words as the research category,we specifically did research on the formation process of how single syllable temperature antonymy words extended to all kinds of fields from temperature field.We wish to optimize combing the transition process of the language meaning of the temperature sensation single syllable words,and conclude the formation mechanism of antonymies,in order to make a breakthrough on the basis of the previous phenomena description.The article is consisted with four chapters:The first chapter illustrated the origin of the topic of this article.The classified elaboration of the general situation of previous research about antonymy and temperature sensation words was made in order to propose the main research method and research significance.In the second chapter,we discussed the formation of temperature sensation word antonymy.First,the criterion of antonymy and the presentation of antonymy in sentences were determined,which provided the theoretical fundamental for our research.Then,we made textual criticisms and explanations for the target words,therefore,conclude the formation of antonymies that has oposite original meanings.The third chapter discussed the development of temperature sensation antonymy.First,the formation of the extended meaning of target words was explained with cognitive theories.Then,we did systematic observation and description to the formation ofantonymies of each target word from the temperature category to all categories.We found that not every extended meaning can form antonymy from observing the antonymy of each extended meaning,therefore ensured the existence of the strong antonymy relationship of opposite original meaning.And there is no strong extend in meaning of strongly opposite words.In the end,we concluded the three level of the antonymy developing tendency.In the fourth chapter,we collected the linguistic data of the formation and development of single syllable temperature sensation words antonymy,therefore,concluded the formation of antonymy relationship and the mechanism of the developments of antonymy.
