From Text To Image-A Study On The Adaptation Of A Clockwork Orange

Stanley Kubrick's spirituality and prudence in film creation have collided with a grotesque but real adaptation style.He skillfully integrates the adaptation rules of literature,film and opera,and creates a highly stylized narrative law.The movie "Clockwork Orange" combines the melody of classical music with the visual effect of post-modernist style,showing Stanley Kubrick's unconstrained and untraditional attitude.Stanley Kubrick,adhering to the principle of loyalty to adaptation skills which is loyal to raw materials and divorcing from raw materials,as a result,produced that great film from the novel.The movie "Clockwork Orange" is a magnum opus on the way of his film adaptation.It not only has great influence in the film history,but also has artistic and academic research value in the study of novel adaptation.This thesis makes a comprehensive study of Stanley Kubrick's film adaptation methods by using the methods of literature analysis,interdisciplinary research,comparative analysis and text analysis.It states the influence of creative background on film adaptation from four aspects which are background of the times,cultural background,background of science and technology,and trend of behaviorism.And it also expounds its internal logic from for aspects: narrative plot,character,technique of expression,speech and dual opposition theme,then,it mainly discusses the transformation from novel to film from content adaptation,novel character modification and artistic rendering entity.Finally,it puts forward some thoughts on the adaptation of Stanley Kubrick's films,and sums up the faithfulness of the original works,the style of adaptation narration and the value embodied in the process of adaptation.In conclusion,based on the previous discussion,this paper summarizes the rules of Stanley Kubrick's film adaptation,and provides new ideas and experience for the development of film literary adaptation in the future.
