Study On The Effectiveness Of Peer Editing In English Writing Teaching In Senior High School Based On Key Competencies

Peer editing in this study refers to a learning method of students' cooperative correction and comment of each other's writing.The purpose and content of this research are in line with the requirements of Standard of English Curriculum for Senior High Schools(2017 Edition),and the concept of the development of students' English Key Competencies.However,literature studies have found that most of the current studies on peer editing focus on the level of higher education English teaching,and less attention is paid to the effectiveness of peer editing in senior high school.This research is to answer three questions:1)To what extent can the application of peer editing in English writing teaching in senior high school improve students' writing ability?2)What changes have taken place in students' cooperative learning ability in the process of peer editing?3)How peer editing influences on the development of students' ability to find and solve problems in language use?The research field is Z Middle School in Nanning,Guangxi.60 students in Class19 of grade two and their English teacher were selected as the subject of study.The researcher assisted the teacher to organize students conducting 10 times of peer editing in English writing.The data were collected by test,interview and sample analysis.This research follows research ethics and respects the privacy of the subjects.The results show that:First,over a period of time,most of the students in peer editing class have improved their English writing performance and English writing level;Second,students are not only willing to cooperate with their peers in English writing,but also hope to learn collaboratively with their classmates in other subjects.Third,in peer editing,students improve the ability of problem-finding and language error correction,and thus improve the accuracy of language use.
