In the primary school curriculum system,English plays a very important role.In order to strengthen primary school students' language communicative competence,in 2001,China began to open English language learning in the third grade of primary school. However,in learning English, many people do not attach importance to primary school English learning, and the degree of attention paid to each part is also very different. Most students will concentrate on reading and writing, neglecting listening and speaking practice, which is not conducive to students learning English(Zhang Shuyan,2015).The National English Curriculum Standard stipulates the basic requirements of English for Grade 5 and Grade 6 in compulsory education.English listening is one of the four basic skills in English teaching.Listening ability ranks first among the four abilities in English learning(listening, speaking, reading and writing). But for most Chinese pupils who lack English language environment, listening has become a difficult skill.Mastering and flexibly using English listening strategies is an effective way of learning. However,in practical teaching,it is found that primary school English learners lack the guidance of English listening strategies. Therefore,it is necessary to investigate the current situation of senior pupils using English listening strategies. When English listening has seriously affected English communicative activities, the importance of cultivating students' English listening is self-evident.This study is based on a questionnaire survey of the current situation of English listening strategies used by senior students of X primary school in Changbaishan area.By summing up the definition and classification of English listening strategies, and combining with interviews with primary school front-line English teachers on listening learning strategies, the problems and reasons in primary school students' English listening are found and analyzed in order to provide appropriate English listening.Listening strategies can improve students' listening level and ability, and provide data support and constructive suggestions for improving listening and learning,so as to help senior English teachers in primary schools solve listening teaching problems. The ultimate goal is to enable pupils to adopt scientific and effective English listening strategies, improve their English listening skills, and improve their comprehensive English skills. This study divides listening strategies into three categories:metacognitive strategies, cognitive strategies and social affective strategies. At the same time, the data are collected by using EXCEL and analyzed by statistical analysis software SPSS17.0.The results show that:firstly, the overall situation of pupils ' use of listening strategies is general, and the concept of listening strategies is vague;secondly, students with good listening performance are better at using listening skills and strategies than those with poor listening performance, and adopt different listening strategies according to different listening tasks.Thirdly, teachers seldom instruct and train students in listening strategies consciously. In the specific teaching process,we should strengthen the use of students' listening strategies,so as to improve the overall listening level of students. Therefore, students should use listening strategies to improve their listening skills in the future teaching process,so as to lay a solid foundation for lifelong English learning.
