Writing plays an important role in senior high school English learning,which can effectively reflect students' mastery and use of the language.In the past decades,English writing teaching has also made some achievements.However,there are still a series of problems,such as students' lack of interests in English writing and improper use of writing strategies.In response to the above problems,this paper attempts to adopt the production-oriented approach in order to improve the current situation of learners' English writing.Based on Swain's output hypothesis and Wen Qiufang's production-oriented approach,this paper advocates taking cultivating production competence as the teaching objective and attaching importance to the combination of learning and production.This paper tries to help students learn selectively when they discover the lack of existing knowledge through the teaching processes of motivating,enabling and assessment.It has obvious effects on students' interests in English writing,English writing strategies and English writing achievements.This study intends to answer the following research questions:1.What effects does production-oriented approach have on students‘ interests in English writing in senior high school?2.What effects does production-oriented approach have on students‘ English writing strategies in senior high school?3.What effects does production-oriented approach have on students‘ English writing achievements in senior high school?105 high school students from Grade two in Panjin City,Liaoning Province participate in the experiment,which lasts for 16 weeks.The experimental class adopts production-oriented approach,while the control class uses traditional teaching methods.The instruments of this experiment contain questionnaires,pre-test and post-test and interview to collect data.Statistical analysis is dealt with SPSS 22.0 software.The study shows that compared with the control class,students‘ interests in English writing of the experimental class have been significantly enhanced after the experiment.In addition,in the experimental class,production-oriented approach improves their English writing strategies and achievements.Therefore,production-oriented approach is feasible and effective in senior high school English writing teaching.
