| The source text is taken from Transit Life: How Commuting Is Transforming Our Cities which is written by David Bissell.As an important work on commuting,the book gives a relatively systematic description of commuting.The source text explores how commuters manage time and discusses the trials and tribulations of supercommuters.There are many English books about commuting,but few Chinese versions are found.This translation report includes five chapters.The first chapter gives a general introduction to the background and significance of the translation project.The structure of this translation report is also included in this part.The second chapter concentrates on the source text,including its content,author,text type and language features.The third chapter elaborates on the theoretical basis of this report—Skopos Theory.The general introduction to and the three rules of Skopos Theory are talked about in this part.Reasons for selecting it as theoretical guidance are also discussed.The fourth chapter deals with difficulties mainly at the lexical and the syntactic level and puts forward corresponding solutions under the guidance of Skopos Theory.To tackle these difficulties,liberal translation was employed while translation techniques including addition,change of voice and division were applied.The last chapter focuses on enlightenments gained from the translation process and problems to be further solved. |
