Research On The Narrative Techniques Of Character Documentary

As an important branch of documentary genre,character documentary has inherent advantages in restoring the real living environment and living state of groups or individuals.Character documentaries have experienced several theoretical and practical innovations from focusing on well-known representative figures to focusing on ordinary people living around us.Character documentary has recorded the words and deeds of people living under different circumstances,foil the thoughts and feelings of the characters,and reflect the social style.In particular,as a documentary about ordinary people,ordinary people reflect the big world,and restore the most real side of society in all sentient beings through the in-depth exploration of real people and events in real time and space."People" as the fundamental character documentary,the most important part of the creation is how to choose the performance object,how to set up the character image,how to portray the character,how to tell a good character story is.Therefore,character documentaries should not only show the behaviors and actions of the subjects,but also explore the inner world of the subjects,so as to show the spiritual meaning behind the behaviors of the subjects and better analyze the relationship between individuals and society.Nowadays,audiences’ aesthetic needs for documentaries are constantly changing and gradually showing more diversified aesthetic tastes.Therefore,on the premise of adhering to the characteristics of the authenticity of documentaries,the narrative methods of character documentaries should be changed and improved to tell a good character story while breaking the rigid records.This paper combines the theoretical support and video reference into the creation analysis of the personal work "hu yuanjun",and forms a new self-starting understanding of the theories related to narrative techniques of the documentary.This paper analyzes the narrative perspective and narrative structure of character documentaries by combing and studying the different creation methods of various character documentaries and combining with the personal documentary "hu yuanjun",and further discusses the role of narrative structure and narrative perspective in the selection of subject matter and the establishment of theme of character documentaries.Through the development of the story,the presentation of details,the presence and intervention of the camera,audio-visual language and editing skills,the narrative language of the documentary characters are analyzed,and the narrative language of the personal documentary "hu yuanjun" is summarized and summarized with theoretical knowledge.It is expected that the viewpoints and methods elaborated in this paper can provide help for the creation of character documentaries,and more excellent documentaries with diverse forms and attractive audiences can be expected in the future.
