Investigation And Research Of Yuquan Temple In Tianshui

Tianshui Yuquan temple,a Taoist palace which has a history of more than 700 years ago,existing Taoist stele inscriptions,ancient architecture,folk activities and so on,have far-reaching cultural value.This paper has analyzed Tianshui Yuquan temple from the perspective of sociology and folklore.Yuquan temple is located in Tianjing Mountain,North of Tianshui city,Gansu province.Although the Taoist priests practiced here during the Han Dynasty,it was only created in the Yuan Dynasty by the true Taoist priest Zhitong Liang.The Tianjing mountain natural environment is close to the water,so temple is established here.After the rebuilding of the Yuan,Ming and Qing Dynasties,a large Taoist palace with more than 90 buildings was formed.There are 47 extant inscriptions on Yuquan temple,which are divided into religious inscriptions,poetic inscriptions,architectural inscriptions and other inscriptions.These inscriptions not only depict its humanistic connotation and natural beauty,but also witness the history of Yuquan temple.There are more than 60 existing ancient buildings,most of which were rebuilt in the Qing Dynasty,and a few of which have retained the complete architectural style of the Ming Dynasty.Among them,the cave,shrine,pavilion and other architectural forms as well as the ancient cypresses inside the pavilion are not only precious cultural relics,but also record the rich and colorful regional culture and long history.we can see that the local society attaches importance to Yuquan temple,not only in the support of local officials,but also in the contribution of merchants and people to Yuquan temple.It has the power to educate the people,expand the influence,and achieve stable society.The temple activities and folklore of folk beliefs confirm the importance of the local society to Yuquan temple.It not only reflects the historical religious art value,but also contains rich historical and cultural resources.At present,although the cultural relics and historic sites of Yuquan Temple have important historical value,they have not carried out effective protection measures.The local government should pay attention to it and formulate effective protection policies to promote the development of surrounding culture.
