English writing skill has always been one of the most difficult parts in second language acquisition,which requires high reading and thinking ability of learners.Reading and writing task is a new attempt in second language teaching,aiming at improving students' reading and writing ability.On the basis of previous studies,this paper discusses the influence of two different types of reading materials on learners' writing level,and discusses the influence of narrative and argumentation on the level of writing after reading.This study attempts to solve the following three questions:(1)what is the influence of the argumentative essay writing task on the writing proficiency of English majors?(2)what influence does the task of writing after reading narration have on the writing ability of English major students?(3)which genre is more effective in improving students' writing ability?Under the principle of consistent difficulty,this study designs one narrative and one argumentative reading material,which will be the main test questions of this study.Fifty students in each group were selected as subjects.The experiment lasted eight weeks.Every other week,students are assigned the task of reading and writing in different genres.Before and after the completion of all the follow-up tasks,the author distributed questionnaires to these students and counted the results.After completing the task,some students were randomly selected for interview.Combined with the results of the students' essays and questionnaires,this study found that the two types of reading materials have different influences on the students' writings.The results show that(1)students are affected by argumentative reading materials in terms of accuracy of language and alignment effect;(2)reading materials in narrative style have the greatest influence on the content and richness of students' compositions;(3)the task of writing after argumentative reading is more effective in improving students' writing skills.The research results are helpful for foreign language teachers and researchers to clarify the impact of different genres of reading and writing on learners' language learning,especially the alignment effect.It also provides reference and inspiration for teaching and research ofreading and writing.
