With the development of economic,more and more L2 learners choose to study abroad,and the influence of target language environment on the development of L2 learners' language level is attracting more and more attention.How to use the target language environment to effectively improve the language ability is a common concern of learners and language researchers.Improving the pragmatic ability,being able to use the language properly and appropriately,and effectively using the second language for communication is the common goal of teachers and learners.Request strategy,as a common pragmatic strategy in daily communication,is a pragmatic ability that learners urgently need to master.This study focuses on the acquisition of request strategy by English-speaking Chinese learners.Based on previous studies,this paper explores the influence of the target language environment on learners' request strategy acquisition by refining the specific elements(residence duration,teaching guidance,language contact and use,etc.).To help International students make full use of the environment to acquire Chinese and to provide teaching and learning advices for pragmatic development.Research shows that the request strategy of Chinese learners in the target language environment,has a tendency to be closer to the native Chinese speakers' than of the learners in the foreign language environment.In addition,there is also a large individual difference in the pragmatic competence exhibited by the request strategy among the learners who are in the target language environment,Survey and interview studies show that the length of residence,the specific communication activities with Chinese native speakers;books and films;explanations and practice;learning attitudes,etc.,can all affect the acquisition of the request strategy in the target environment.This paper gives some suggestions for the pragmatic teaching and learning according to the research result.
