Oral error correction is an important component of English classroom teaching,which has been a hot issue since the 1960 s.Learners inevitably make oral errors in the process of learning a foreign language.So how to treat those errors in class are the foremost question for teachers to deal with.This thesis investigates the differences between teachers' behavior and students' expectation on oral error correction in senior high school English class.This thesis aims to solve:(1)What are the differences between teachers' behavior and students' expectation of oral error correction in senior high school English class?(2)What are the factors that cause the differences between teachers' behavior and student' expectation of oral error correction?This research uses the methods of questionnaire and interview which regards the students and teachers in Mu Danjiang No.15 Senior High School as the respondents.It analyzes from five dimensions which are attitude,error types,correction methods,time and subject.Both quantitative and qualitative analysis are included.The research finds that there exist differences between teachers' behavior and students' expectation on error correction in five dimensions.As for the attitudes,teachers and students hold the different attitudes on the following questions: whether teachers correct oral errors frequently can help students improve their English ability or not,whether teachers frequently correct students' oral errors may let students lose self-confidence and feel lost face or not,and whether teachers should choose the typical oral errors that other students easily make when correcting students' errors or not.When it comes to the error types,there exist differences between teachers and students on grammatical and lexical errors.As for the question of methods adopted in error correction,there are differences between teachers' behavior and students' expectation on explicit correction,recasts,and metalinguistic feedback.As for the time,teachers and students hold different views on the time of correcting grammatical,lexical,and language express errors.With regard to the subject,teachers' behavior on correcting grammatical and lexical errors are different from the students' expectation.Therefore,this thesis puts forward some suggestions for teachers on oral error correction in teaching English.Teachers should transform the frequency of oral error correction according to the types of errors and flexibly use different methods in class.Teachers should choose the proper time and subjects when correcting oral errors.Teachers should strengthen the communication with students.Teachers should update and combine their teaching theory with behavior in the process of teaching.
