An Interpretation Of The Musical Image And Singing Of The Songs For Female Role In The 1987 Version Of TV Drama The Dream Of The Red Mansions

The Dream of the Red Mansions is one of China's Four Great Classical Novels and a literary work that tops the list of the Four Great Classical Novels,enjoying a high reputation in the Chinese and foreign literary circles.It's also a great work of art,honored as the “Chinese Encyclopedia”.With the rise of films and TV plays,the 1987 Version of TV Drama The Dream of the Red Mansions was put on show,catching the eye of “almost all people”.The songs in The Dream of the Red Mansions written by the composer Wang Liping are of the simple and elegant style.They carried off many grand awards,becoming classics of the time.It is worth noting that female characters are depicted vividly in both the original and the TV drama.In particular,the 8 songs for female characters written by Wang Liping are distinctive and popular with the people.Sounding melodious and pleasant,these songs make the characters more attractive.In recent years,with national music vigorously promoted and spread,an increasing number of vocal music lovers have joined those engaged in the singing and study of the songs in The Dream of the Red Mansions.I have a great passion for the songs for female characters in this TV drama.Based on my personal hobbies,I aim to interpret the musical image and singing of the songs for female characters in the 1987 Version of TV Drama The Dream of the Red Mansions.By analyzing the characters,the background of the songs,the music,the lyrics and the singing forms,I try to provide help for the performance of the songs for female characters in the TV Drama The Dream of the Red Mansions in order to do something for the study and singing of Chinese national songs.This paper consists of the following parts:Introduction: This part outlines the background and significance of the subject,reviews overseas and domestic research actualities and data related to this paper,and puts forward a writing idea and research method.Part 1: This part provides an overview on the chapter novel The Dream of the Red Mansions,the writer,the production team of the 1987 Version of TV Drama The Dream of the Red Mansions,the synopsis,the composer,the creation process of the songs,theoriginal singers and the female characters.Part 2: This part primarily analyzes the musical image of the songs for female characters in the TV drama from the perspective of the characters,character features,creation background and music related to the songs.Part 3: This part interprets the singing and artistic features of the songs by analyzing the lyrics and singing skills,including articulation and enunciation,breath control,resonant cavity use and emotional expression.Conclusion: This part summarizes the research content of this paper based on my own practice and the research significance.This paper interprets the singing of the songs based on the original performance.I polish my theoretical knowledge and practical experience in the singing process to better express the works in the hope of offering some help to the vocal music lovers that sing such songs,and pay homage to the classics.I hope that more vocal music lovers will sing the sons in the TV drama The Dream of the Red Mansions to learn more about this masterpiece,the traditional Chinese culture and the Chinese national music.
