| Acute pain is a form of pain that is usually associated with surgical trauma, tissue damage,or certain disease status, which refers to pain that has recently been produced and lasts for a short period of time.Virtual reality has shown better than the traditional non-drug pain relief methods of analgesic effects in clinical practices and laboratory researches. The purpose of this study, including two researches is to explore the effects of virtual reality on the relief of acute pain, the cognitive neural mechanism in the acute pain relief, and the verification whether the process includes dual-task interference and pain neural networks.Experiment One is to explore the virtual reality to alleviate the level of acute pain and to verify the existence of pain neural network through the different acute pain relief effects between the same virtual situation to the cold and hot pain source. The participants grip the stainless mugs with 50.0±0.5 degrees centigrade hot water or 5.0±0.5 degrees centigrade ice water cause acute pain.33 college students took part in this study, which was a repeated measures factorial design. Each of the participants carried out 4 experiments under the condition of 2*2(with or without virtual reality intervention*hot or cold pain source),and the sequential balance between the participants was performed to eliminate the experimental sequence interference. The change of pain level was judged by two variables:pain assessed value and pain tolerance time. The results of pain tolerance time show that the intervention of virtual reality technology has significantly alleviated the acute pain, which caused by the pain sources. The results of pain assessed value and pain tolerance time show that there are significant differences in the decrease of different pain sources by virtual reality. The existence of pain neural networks is explained.Experiment two has the same experimental procedure as experimental One.The difference is that the selected another virtual environment, which the handheld and throwing objects are replaced by the snowball with the fireball.32 college students took part in this study, which was a repeated measures factorial design. The experimental results show that the virtual reality is effective in relieving the acute pain caused by the source of hot and cold pain. The results on the value of pain tolerance time and pain accessed showed that the acute pain of hot pain source was better than that of cold pain source. It explained that dual-task interference was in relieving acute pain.In this study with quantitative methods, the virtual reality was explored to alleviate the acute pain caused by different sources of pain According to the analysis of the results, the following conclusions were obtained:Virtual reality has significant relief effects on acute pain. The results of pain assessed value of different virtual situations on the same acute pain showed the significant difference,as well as the same virtual situation on the different acute pain.Virtual situation as a task of attention, makes up dual-task interference with acute pain. The interference level depends on the different descends that the characters of the pain source and virtual situations. The greater the difference, the better the effect.Acute pain top-down cognitive nerve regulation has differences in the effects of acute pain caused by different sources of pain, which proved the existence of pain neural networks. |
