Today,the global urbanization process is accelerating,and the research theme centered on urban culture has become a hot spot in many fields including literature.This article compares the two cities of New York and Shanghai from the works of Ides Wharton and Wang Anyi,and compares the narratives about urban culture in the works of two female writers from different regions and different eras.The city of New York gave Edith Wharton an elegant culture and gave her the power to grow and betray.New York is Wharton's literary lifeline and endless creative roots.New York has given her the constant spiritual nourishment and philosophical cultural review.This paper analyzes the description of New York's social scenes in Wharton's works and the display of old New York social customs.The awareness of male and female personal awakening shows the personal destiny in a specific social environment and urban culture background.The character and destiny are The portrayal of the entire urban culture profoundly reflects the changes of the times.Edith Wharton's process of writing New York is a process of reviewing urban culture.Wang Anyi's works contain profound ideological and cultural connotations.Her unchanging creative aim is to describe Shanghai's urban culture.From her classic aesthetic image of all kinds of alleys,she has developed a space imagination about the city.A large number of daily life narratives make this city in time.In the lapse of time,it became more specific.Through the construction of Shanghai time and space,the description of many female characters,small people and urban strangers explored the metaphorical spirit of Shanghai.The two writers are in different eras and different status.Through the comparative study of urban cultural narratives in the two works,this paper compares the two praises for women's self-liberation and spiritual awakening,and explores the relationship between the two sexes and explores the urban culture.Humanistic care,showing the urban spirit and cultural and historical connotations.
