| Passive voice is a commonly used grammar in English.In some texts,such as business writings,the use of passive voice is very popular.In the business text,the passive voice is mainly used to show some level of objectivity and process of the facts.In the process of translation and analysis of the text "The Contract Condition of Potato Europe 2018,the translator found that 262 sentences were written in the passive voice(the text has 349 sentences in total).Among them,34 sentences of the passive sentence do not show the actor,and 213 sentences of the passive sentence shows the actor.The translation of a large number of passive sentences in the text becomes the main challenge in the translation process of this text.In order to explore the solution to the problem,the translator analyzes the types and functions of the passive voice in the business text,chooses three translation techniques:1 translate passive voice into marked Chinese passive sentences,2)translate passive voice into Chinese active sentences,3)translate passive voice into Chinese no-subject sentences.To ensure the coherence of the translation,the study also uses amplification,liberal translation,and division to assist translation.By discussing each example specifically,the translator reemphasizes the method of passive voice translation in the conclusion and explains the difficulties and key points in the process of passive voice translation through the translator's practice,in order to provide reference for subsequent related research. |
