A Report On The Translation Of Documents On Security Of The Computer Network

With the rapid development of computer network,network security has had profound influence on the information and data security of enterprises and organizations.However,the author has found that there are few translation reports and researches related to computer network security.Therefore,certain relevant materials are chosen as the object of the study.The source text selected in this translation report is one branch of English for Science and Technology,and a typical informative text characterized by standardized vocabulary,rigorous logic and concise style of writing.It involves plenty of terms,proper nouns and nominalizations,and sentences in passive voice,attributive clauses and long compound sentences are widely used.The difficulty in translating the source text mainly lies in the vocabulary and syntax structure.In terms of vocabulary,there are computer terms,names of companies and products and nominalizations.While translating them,the author mainly adopts literal translation supplemented with free translation and transplantation.At syntax level,there are the sentences in passive voice,attributive clauses and other long and difficult sentences.While translating these sentences,the author flexibly adopts different translation methods according to their characteristics.This paper consists of five parts.The first part is an introduction to the translation project,which outlines its background and significance.The second part introduces the source text,summarizes its main content and analyzes its main features.The third part states the whole translation process,including pre-translation preparation,monitoring process and post-translation revision and summary.The fourth part is the case analysis.The source text is a branch of EST and involves plenty of terms,proper nouns,nominalizations,sentences in passive voice,attributive clauses and long sentences,so this part discusses the translation methods adopted in the translation process by analyzing specific examples.The fifth part is the summary,which summarizes what the writer has learned and what needs to be improved.In addition,the author has learned rich related knowledge on computer network security and the translation capability has been further improved through writing this translation report.The author also hopes that the translation can provide information reference for practitioners in this field so as to help them keep up with the industry trends,and that the translation methods summarized in this report can provide reference for translators who translate similar or related texts.To sum up,the author believes that this paper has certain academic value and practical significance.
