With the wide spread of the concept of lifelong learning and the elderly account for a growing proportion of the population,it becomes very important to develop the career of education for the aged.Before the concept of lifelong education was put forward,modern educationist Cai Yuanpei had put forward that aesthetic education should run through person's whole life.With the progress of society,art education became an indispensable part of education for the aged.How to make art education for the aged to conform to the trend of the times,meet the learning needs of the elderly in the new era,and let more elderly people realize the value of learning art education for their own development,so as to achieve the goal of "cultivating people's soul with beauty and calling people's soul with beauty" ?It has become a common concern of the art education community.Based on this background,this paper mainly discusses art education of the aging society from the following six parts:First of all,the introduction clarifies the significance,purpose,thoughts and methods of the research by sorting out the research status of art education for the aged.With the aging process population and the concept of lifelong education as the background,the first chapter uses the method of documentation to tease the concepts of education for the aged,social education of fine arts and art education of the aging society,and discusses the physiological characteristics,psychological characteristics,study characteristics and learning needs of the elderly,so as to clarify the significance of implement art education for the elderly.The second chapter introduces three typical cases of art education for the aged-university of the third age,community art education,distance education of art,and summarizes the problems on the art education in the aging society.The third chapter discusses the value of art education in the aging society according to the connotation of the art education in the aging society and the physical and mental needs of the elderly.Combined with the physical and mental characteristics and learning needs of the elderly,the fourth chapter conducts several preliminary exploratory practices to explore how to play the value of art education in the aging society better.Finally,epilogue makes a brief summary of the final research situation.
