A Comparative Study Of The Novel Narrative Style Of Singer And Bei Cun

Chinese scholar He Xiongfei(pen name Sonia)said that Bei Cun is "the writer of the Chinese novel style closest to Isaac Bashevis Singer".Singer has long been known as "the most story-telling novelist".And Bei Cun has received extensive attention from the academic world with his pioneering and divine writing.Both of them are welcomed by the literary critics with their unique narrative techniques and ideological connotations.Based on this,using the theoretical tools of narratology and stylistics,the narrative style of Singer and Bei Cun's novels is taken as a comparative study,and the formation,connotation,characteristics and aesthetic effects of the narrative styles of the two novels are investigated.The first chapter mainly discusses the "common Taoism" and "near art" between Singer and Bei Cun's narrative style.Singer and Bei Cun's narrative orientation is mainly in line with the simple "writing" story,which always roots the brushstroke in the human spiritual situation and firmly reveals the human spiritual tragedy.Bei Cun's acceptance and evaluation of Singer,in a glimpse of Bei Cun's appreciation of Singer's work "Gimpel The Fool",Bei Cun shows the Singer's narrative from the fulcrum of creation,character shaping,narrative art,and the value of the work.The identity of art and the pursuit of literary ideals found a destination in Singer and reached a tacit agreement.The second chapter compares the way Singer and Bei Cun language are told.Singer and Bei Cun adopted the narrative communication mode of “double-layer narrator”,which opened up the distance between the reader and the text,allowing the reader to examine the formal beauty of the text and realize the deep value of the text.In terms of the discourse form of characters,Singer and Bei Cun have “deformed”the direct quotations in the narrative,but the way of “deformation” is different.Singer used the omitted guide sentence,and the North Village used the omitted quotation marks.Although the methods were different,they all realized the fluency or obstruction of the narrative.In addition,Singer and Bei Cun are not simply“storytelling”.The use of narrative time skills makes “speaking” a meaningful form.The third chapter compares and analyzes the narrative perspectives of Singer andBei cun's novels.The narrative perspective is an important dimension in studying the perspective and the sound of a literary work.Through the statistical classification of the narrative perspectives of Singer and Bei cun's novels,this paper mainly adopts the omniscience perspective,the first person experience perspective and the retrospective perspective.The omniscience perspective is not a simple omniscience perspective,and it has deep value in Singer and Bei Cun.In addition,the narrative voice and vision have been separated or merged in different degrees in the novels of Singer and Bei cun.The use of these narrative perspectives has facilitated the embarrassment of Singer and Bei Cun in the field of spiritual time and space,penetrating the depth of thought,and tapping the ultimate value of the human heart.The fourth chapter compares the time and space between Singer and Bei Cun's novel narrative.Narrative time and space never existed separately,but always organically unified in literary works.In the novels of Singer and Bei cun,there are ingenious constructions of time and space,namely“nesting”and“overlaying”and“flowing” and “traveling”,which realizes the creative fusion of the space axis and the time axis of the novel,and generates virtual time and space beyond reality.This kind of space-time construction not only shows the charm of narrative,but also the pursuit and expansion of the "text tension",forming a profound narrative order.
