| Yunnan Memory is a pioneering work for zhongruan.Its path-breaking significance lies in two aspects: 1)in being the first concerto for zhongruan and 2)in combining modern composition techniques with instrumental techniques of the zhongruan.The most vivid movement in Yunnan Memory is the third movement,which is dazzling in melody,instrumentation and technical difficulty for the zhongruan performerThis thesis mainly examines the performance techniques used and artistic treatment of the zhongruan in Yunnan Memory’s third movement.The first chapter is the introduction,which summarizes the current state of domestic research on Liu Xing’s Yunnan Memory,and puts forward the significance and methods of research used.The second chapter is about the study of the zhongruan performance techniques used in the piece,including both left-hand and right-hand techniques,as well as the coordination of both hands.The third chapter studies the artistic treatment of the third movement of Yunnan Memory,including its recreation in performance,the handling of emotion by understanding the musical image,performance aesthetics,and the application of music performance techniques.It is hoped that through this thesis,we can draw conclusions regarding the following three aspects: 1)the techniques on the zhongruan necessary to perform the third movement of Yunnan Memory;2)how to balance the relationship between the composer’s original creation and the performer’s recreation of a piece through performance;and 3)the flexible use of performance skills,such that emotion expressed would be line with the composer’s intentions.It is also hoped that this study would deepen the theory,that theory would guide practice in order to bring out the interpretation of the soul of the music. |
