Teachers' feedback is an important step of dialogue teaching and teachers' corrective feedback is one major type of teachers' feedback.The corrective feedback in English class of senior high school is the information provided by teachers to students' language errors for accurate English output.Teachers'corrective feedback works as a bridge of teacher-students interaction and students can get comprehensible target language input from teachers.Based on the significance of corrective feedback in English learning,a case study is conducted in Z senior high school of Beijing to investigate teachers' corrective feedback in English reading class for improving the effectiveness of teachers'corrective feedback.This study investigates teachers' choice of corrective feedback towards students' different error types and the effect of teachers'corrective feedback on students' error repairs through observation.The observation results show that teachers use explicit correction,recast and negotiation of form to correct different errors of students,The types of corrective feedback most frequently following different error types are different,but recast is used most frequently overall.Seen from the effectiveness of corrective feedback,recast,the corrective feedback used most frequently is not the most effective.The most effective corrective feedback is negotiation of form for most errors followed by it get repaired.Based on the findings above,interviews towards relative teachers are carried out to investigate the reasons for the choice of corrective feedback.The results show that:first,teachers are not.well aware of the significance of corrective feedback;second,teachers are not clear about the characteristics of different corrective feedback;third,teachers pay little attention to the effectiveness of corrective feedback.Based on these findings,teachers should raise awareness of the significance of corrective feedback;learn about the characteristics of different corrective feedback;pay attention to the effectiveness of different corrective feedback.The strategies above will help to improve the effectiveness of corrective feedback used in English reading class of senior high school.
