As an important part of senior high school English reading class,vocabulary teaching has always been concerned.With the era of Educational Informatization 2.0,English vocabulary teaching methods are constantly innovating,which effectively expand students' vocabulary quantity and promote students' understanding and application of vocabulary,thus improve students' reading level.However,during the internship,the author finds that most teachers still overuse some traditional vocabulary teaching methods,such as Grammar Translation Method to conduct vocabulary teaching,and do not combine vocabulary teaching with reading content.It seriously affects the cultivation of students' thinking ability,and does not accord with the requirements of the English Curriculum Standard in Senior High School(2017 Edition)for students' Core Competences.In view of this,it is necessary to investigate and study the current vocabulary teaching in senior high school English reading class.This thesis uses Contextual Theory as theoretical basis,using questionnaire,interview and classroom observation to analyze and study,aiming to find the commonly used teaching methods of vocabulary teaching in senior high school English reading class and reveal the problems and their causes,trying to propose suggestions to improve the efficiency of vocabulary teaching in senior high school English reading class.The study selected 62 senior high school English teachers in Shandong Province as the research participants,and interviewed 5 of them.Then the author observed the five teachers,each for 4 lessons,with a total of 20 lessons.And the research questions are listed:1.What are the commonly used methods in current vocabulary teaching in senior high school English reading class?2.What are the problems and their causes in current vocabulary teaching in senior high school English reading class?Through the data collected by using questionnaire,interview and classroom observation,the author finds that the commonly used methods in current vocabulary teaching in senior high school English reading class are Grammar Translation Method,Situational Language Teaching,context method,Action Demonstration Method,Associative Method,rote memory,word classes,prefixes and suffixes,word formation and picture displayed method.And the current problems in vocabulary teaching in senior high school English reading class are as follows: 1.Some teachers indicated in the questionnaire that they would combine vocabulary teaching with reading content in the reading class.However,the author finds in the classroom observation that in the actual teaching,teachers still separate vocabulary teaching and reading content,instead of teaching vocabulary within context.2.Some teachers fail to balance the proportion of vocabulary teaching and reading content.3.Students lack the autonomous learning awareness.4.Students are easy to forget the new words and the recurrence rate of the new words is very low.5.Teachers often use all-Chinese to teach English in reading class.As to the causes,they are chiefly: 1.Teachers' professional skills are not sufficient enough.2.Teachers lack the cultivation of thinking competence for students.3.The reading contents that teachers choose are relatively old.4.Teachers are limited by examoriented education,they can only design teaching content according to the standards and requirements of exam syllabus.Based on the findings,some suggestions are listed as follows: 1.Teachers' teaching level should be improved,they should explain vocabulary based on reading context and study teaching materials seriously.2.Teachers should develop students' competences of autonomous thinking.3.Teachers should improve the vocabulary recurrence rate,conduct more related activities about the new words.4.Converting classroom mode from teachercentered to student-centered.
